Concord Grapes

1 lb
Concord grapes originated in Concord, MA in 1849 when E.W. Bull first cultivated them. Bull wanted to create a hardy vine that could survive the cold climate and initially planted 22,000 seedlings. After 6 years, he chose the single vine that yielded the best fruit.  The original is still thriving today--in Concord! Concord grape juice, with its signature taste, was first made by Dr. Thomas Welch, a prohibitionist. His famous creation was used an alternative for communion wine. The whole grape is edible, although many people prefer to eat them without the skin and/or seeds. Add to baked goods; or simmer into a syrup or jelly. Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
